Where the Winds Meet
Dates: August 1st - October 30th 2026 · Venue: Gikun, Thimphu Bhutan
Ever since I was a child, I have felt close to nature and to the different emotions carried
by each season.
In summer, the grass turned green and the trees filled with cool leaves. Sitting beneath their shade, with a gentle breeze passing through, is a feeling only summer can bring. In autumn, the warm colours of fallen leaves and the cool air made every cup of tea feel warmer. Winter brought the comfort of sunlight, bowls of noodles, and a warm bathtub. Anything warm somehow tasted better and carried me back to my childhood. In spring, I waited for the yellowish plums just before they ripened—sweet, sour, and my favourite. The flowers had a way of quieting my mind, almost freezing my thoughts for a moment.
As I continued painting, I realised that I was not only painting what I saw. I was trying to return to these feelings—to come closer to nature, observe it more carefully, and understand what it was quietly offering.
Painting became a way of understanding the world without language. Through colour, form, light, sound, and atmosphere, I began to notice how a landscape can hold both a place and a memory. Watercolour, with its transparency, softness, and unpredictability, allowed these memories to remain fluid—sometimes clear, sometimes fading, like the seasons themselves.
These seventeen watercolour landscapes are reflections of that journey. They are paintings of places, but they are also paintings of what those places left within me.
I hope that, through them, others may remember a landscape, a season, or a feeling that once made them pause—and simply be.
